The Children's Hosptial of Philadelphia's Research Institute has two pressing research needs for children with special needs. The first study is the Infant Brain Imaging Study (IBIS). IBIS examines early risk factors for autism by focusing on brain characteristics. Researchers are seeking infants with older siblings to enroll. An eligible family will also have an older child (full sibling) who is typically developing or who has a diagnosis of autism. They will receive complete developmental assessments and each infant will have a brain MRI.
The second study is recruiting typically developing boys between the ages of 6 and 18 years. Participants will receive cognitive and behavioral testing, an MRI scan, and a small blood test.
